Washington City Cemetery

Washington City Cemetery is located at 1754 16th Road, one mile south of US 36 on Highway 15.

City crews oversee operations at the cemetery.

Cemetery lots sell for $1200 for 12 spaces. They may also be purchased by the half and quarter lot. There is also a registration fee collected at the time of purchase, as set by the Washington County Register of Deeds.

Cemetery Records & Cemetery Directory

In 2002, a cemetery directory was installed at the Washington City Cemetery. It was placed in honor of Ben Brungardt, a lifelong Washington citizen who worked as the cemetery sexton for many years.

The directory is lighted, and features rotating drums, which hold the listings of each individual buried in the cemetery.

Records of burials at the Washington City Cemetery can be obtained at Washington City Hall, 301 C Street, Washington, KS.  

Requests for records, or requests for corrections to Cemetery records, may be submitted by contacting City Hall via phone or email.

Please note: The cemetery directory that is physically located at the cemetery is not able to be updated currently.  However, electronic records are available below.
