Friendly Corners is a non-profit organization located in Washington, Kansas, and provides meals to Senior Citizens (persons age 60 and older) throughout Washington County.
There is a suggested donation of $3.50 per meal for Senior Citizens.
Those under 60 years of age are welcome to eat as well, and there is a charge for those individuals of $5.00 per meal.
Meals are cooked on site and the menus are reviewed by a registered dietitian to ensure nutritional value.
Participants are encouraged to eat their noon meal at the meal-site, located at 100 B Street, but meals are also delivered to homes or businesses throughout Washington County (except for the Clifton area; Clifton has its own meal site where meals are prepared).
Participants can also enjoy a meal at the Greenleaf meal site or the Kloppenberg meal site in Hanover, and those meals are also provided by Friendly Corners.
An important part o fthe meal sites is fellowship. Some of the sites provide different activities such as programs, entertainment, and card games.
The staff at Friendly Corners includes Rose Elam and Janice Williams. The Washington Site Manager is Norma Stamm. Washington County Director of Meal Sites Becky Pannbacker has her office at Friendly Corners.
