July 4 -- Washington Fourth of July Celebration. Events will take place in Washington’s City Park and include , food stand with lunch served from 11 am-1 pm and ice cream from 7pm until the fireworks start, children's fishing contest at the dam, sand volleyball tournament, and fireworks at dark. Pre-registration required for volleyball. Washington Swimming Pool will offer FREE SWIMMING from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. For more information contact Jerry Alldredge at 785. 325.3187. The Washington Fire Department is currently seeking donations for their annual fireworks display. Independence Farms, Inc. presents a Fun Horse show, including events such as: Obstacle course, rescue race, boot race, doubles barrels, barrels, relay race, dizzy izzy horse race, stick horse race, egg race, pole bending, four in line poles, ride a buck! Just $10.00 to ride all day! Prizes awarded to class winners and all show proceeds benefit Independence Farms, Inc. Concessions available. Bring your STICK HORSE! Parade Saturday, open theme; co-ed sand volley ball tournament all day; kids games begin at 10 a.m. at the platform; entertainment at 7:30 p.m., pork supper a la carte; and dance from 9 p.m.-1 a.m. Sunday morning church services begin at 10:45 a.m. at Methodist Church. December 1-25th -- Nanniga's Christmas Lights Display. . Directions: From the 15-36 Truckstop corner south of Morrowville, go to the 2nd Corner West on Highway 36 (not a full 2 miles), then turn left onto Indian Rd. and go 2 miles South, then turn Right onto 15th Rd. (Old Coleman Center School Corner) and go 3/4 miles west. When you turn west you will see the lights ahead in the distance. "The Lights Are On". Call (785)265-3538 for more information.
