January 1 -- Happy New Year!

January 6 - 6:30 p.m. City Council Meeting.  City Hall Council Chambers.

January 20 - City Office Closed in honor of Martin Luther King Jr Day

 

February 3 - 6:30 p.m. City Council Meeting.  City Hall Council Chambers.

February 14 -- St. Valentine's Day

February 14- 5 p.m. PTO Spaghetti FeedWashington County High School  Free Will Donation.

February 17-- City Office closed in honor of President's Day

March 2 - 6:30 p.m. City Council Meeting.  City Hall Council Chambers.

March 5 6-7:30 pm.- Alzheimer's Community Forum.  Clay Center High School. Clay, Riley, Geary, Dickinson, Ottawa, Cloud, Washington and Republic county invited to attend.

March 8 -- Daylight Savings time begins.  (Set your clocks ahead one hour!)

March 17 -- St. Patrick's Day.

March 20 -- Spring begins.

April 1 -- April Fool's Day.

April 6 - 6:30 p.m. City Council Meeting.  City Hall Council Chambers.

Apri   -- City of Washington Clean-up day.  City crews will pick up XXXXX  ONLY!

City crews will pick up Thursday, XXX free of charge.

All items must be at the curb no later than 8 a.m. April XXX.  Crews will only make ONE PICKUP beginning at 8 a.m.  Anything not at the curb when crews go by will not be picked up.

Items accepted:  appliances, furniture, mattresses/box springs, computers, etc., which are placed at the curb.  These items may also be taken to the County landfill free of charge April XXX.

This pickup DOES NOT INCLUDE: normal household trash, hazardous materials, hazardous waste or any construction/demolition material.  These items will not be picked up. 

If your items are not picked up by April XXX at 1 p.m., contact City Hall, otherwise you will need to take to the landfill yourself.

July 6 - 6:30 p.m. City Council Meeting.  City Hall Council Chambers.

July 4 -- Washington Fourth of July Celebration. Events will take place in Washington’s City Park.  Washington Swimming Pool will offer FREE SWIMMING from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. 

July 4 -- Haddam Fourth of July celebration.  Begins at 8 p.m.  Homemade Ice cream, ball games, fireworks.

July 4 -- Mahaska Fourth of July Celebration. Games begin at 6 p.m.,  ice cream social at 7 p.m., Fireworks begin at dark.  For more information contact Barb Livingston at 785-245-3291.

July - Jayhusker races @ Washington Speedway. 7 pm

July -- Washington County Fair. The fair is a county 4-H fair and features lots of exhibits, livestock shows, carnival, parade and more. For more information contact the Washington County Extension Office, 785.325.2121.

July Vacation Bible School. First Baptist Church, Washington. 9am-11am. Preschool through 6th grade.

August   -- Haddam Frontier Days. Parade  Saturday, open theme;   co-ed sand volley ball tournament all day;  kids games begin at 10 a.m. at the platform;  entertainment at 7:30 p.m., pork supper a la carte; and dance from 9 p.m.-1 a.m.  Sunday morning church services begin at 10:45 a.m. at Methodist Church.  Golf tournament on Sunday.  For more information call 785.778.2818.

September   - Annual Fall Fest.  Sponsored by First National Bank. Events include kids' games, car show, food, drinks.  All day event.

September   -- First Day of Autumn

October   -- Methodist Church Soup Supper and Bazaar.  4:00 pm - 7:00 pm.  Free will donation.

October - Warm Hearts.  Coat distribution.  9am-12pm, Good Shephard Lutheran Church.

October 31st - FBLA/Chamber of Commerce Halloween parade. Downtown business district.

November   - Daylight Savings.  Set your clocks back 1 hour.

November 7 – Hearts ‘N Things Bazaar & Auction. The bazaar begins at 1 p.m. with the auction at 2 p.m. at Washington Grade School gymnasium. All proceeds benefit the Washington County Hospital. For more information contact

November 28- 12th Annual Barnes Lighted Horse Parade. Downtown Barnes
